Pyrgaki

The scenic beach of Pyrgaki is situated within a small cove, which is well protected from the northern winds, at the south-western coast of the island, to the South. This truly huge sandy beach is not organized, so no umbrellas or sun-beds are available for rent, but it is found very close to many large and organised tourist resorts with accommodation and other facilities. It is a lovely beach in all respects and one of the best choices for those wishing to enjoy swimming at an excellent, quiet beach which In general is hardly ever crowded. Still, it is in close proximity to the facilities offered at the tourist resorts and at Chora. 

The beach gives a visitor a distinctly exotic impression thanks to the many dunes and the perennial cedar trees which form a small wooded area along the seafront. It is an unusual surrounding, which brings to mind the Mediterranean coasts of North Africa rather than a typical beach of the Aegean Sea. 

Access to this beach from Chora, the port and the airport is easy enough by private or rented car and motorbikes. 

This fine beach is located approximately 18.2km via Galanado & Glinado and 18.4km via Agios Arsenios & Vivlos from Naxos Town, Pyrgaki beach lies directly after the beach of Alyko. The area combines the beauty of the beach itself with the natural beauty of the surrounding area. One can reach Pyrgaki beach via asphalt road almost all the way to Alyko. Then turn left driving along a dirt road for the last kilometre on an easy to navigate road either by car or motorbike following the signs along the way. It is also only 1 kilometre after Alyko beach. 

In the area one can a find few excellent taverns and quite a few recently built hotels/rooms and studios to rent most of which have a lovely view of the beach making it an ideal beach for those who wish to be close to the sea and have a panoramic view of the sunset. 

The closest beaches to this one are those of Agiasos beach and Alyko beach.
