Lionas is the seaport of Koronos which is a nearby village at a distance of approximately 10km via asphalt road. It is a very picturesque seaside settlement in northeastern Naxos with access to it either through Koronos village, where entrance shafts to the emery mines can be seen, or through Apollonas village which is the most developed settlement of northern Naxos in terms of tourism. This is the much longer distance of the two and is a choice only if you happen to be there already. On the approach to the village by car, the view of the bay is lovely.
The village has a very attractive beach strewn with white pebbles of about egg size and is lapped by crystal-clear blue waters. This is secluded settlement with very few inhabitants that is ideal for those seeking for quiet and relaxation.
The bay of Lionas was the first port to export emery from the island before the construction of the cable railway and the old emery shipping station. Along the village’s beach there are several taverns and café-bars that will take care of your thirst and nutrition. This is a small settlement so there are no hotels but there are rooms to let.
The village has ample parking space and a public bus service is operated during the summer season.
